What about gene regulation of expression of neuropeptides?
We know many neurons co-release peptides when subject to
strong stimulation. Neuropeptides are manufactured in the
cell body and transported to axons. This may constitute a
form of memory. Peptides are involved in emotions etc.

It's possible that a lot of memory could be encoded in
this way. Is there any evidence to preclude this possibility?
