What you're asking is how to guarantee a certain level of
return on investment (ROI) to the investors, which of course
is a major issue. This can be done by 1) presenting the facts
and 2) relying on expert testimonial. Experts can include both
scientists on our side and also third-party experts hired to
evaluate the business proposal. This is routinely done during
fund raising for tech start-ups. Our 'product' will probably
be neuroprosthetics. What is required is a sound business model.
Figuring out this business model itself requires some thinking.
Also notice that I'm suggesting to sell 'tokens' of future
income to researchers. These tokens can be pretty low in the
bond rating system. Which means they are high-risk. There's
no deception involved. It's just a higher-risk form of bond
than the company stocks existing today, and therefore the
evaluation criteria can be LESS stringent.
I think the research project has to be close to the ultimate
goal of uploading (either by scanning or replacement), otherwise
it won't justify issuing tokens (high risks must be compensated
by huge profits). The final product can be, eg, a marketable
neuroprothesis that is not only good for therapy (eg for people
whose hippocampus is damaged) but also *good enough* for
functional replacement for HEALTHY brains. Only such a product
can generate huge profits.
I'm not saying I've figured everything out, but that's one
possibility. It makes sense?
