Well, I'm not trying to criticize federal funding here.
I'm saying that the research consortium can be a bridge
between federal and private funding, as long as uploading
is concerned. You just assumed that I've said something
dumb; Let's raise the quality of this discussion.

I've already explained the rationale behind the research
consortium a couple posts back. I'm suggesting to give
academic researchers a slice of the pie of uploading. I
think this is quite reasonable. We're living in a world
where everyone is selfishly trying to grab more money
and at the same time prevent others from grabbing more.
This is all very natural and we should try to deal with
it.

The gist of the consortium is 1) to organize research to
focus on uploading, 2) to reward contributors in a more
accountable way, and 3) to seek more funding than is
currently possible.
