It'd be very reasonable if we don't patent the data
obtained, but only the techniques being invented.
The also prevents the consortium from charging an
unreasonable price because other competitors will
be so pissed that they'll invent newer techniques
to get at the data and thus offer a cheaper
alternative to the market...
