Two electrophysiology postdoc positions in computational neuroscience
are available with Dieter Jaeger at Emory University. Position 1 is
concerned with determining the role of dendrites in synaptic integration
in the deep cerebellar nuclei. A compartmental modeling study is
accompanying whole-cell physiology in slices. For lab publications in
this area see Gauck and Jaeger, J. Neurosci. 2000, 2003. Position 2 is
concerned with determining the network effects of deep brain stimulation
in a rat model of Parkinson's disease. This project combines
extracellular and intracellular in vivo approaches. For an introductory
publication to this project see Goldberg, Kats, and Jaeger, J. Neurosci.
2003. The Neuroscience research environment at Emory University is
excellent, and multiple opportunities for new approaches and
interactions exist. The preferred candidate has a solid background in
electrophysiology and some experience with either Matlab programming or
compartmental simulations. Salary is based on experience and conforms
to NIH levels. Please send enquiries to djaeger at emory.edu and include a
brief CV.
