Thank you Eric for such a thought stimulating
communication yesterday. I am very glad that you gave
an example of your musical skills, for my idea of
uploading involves saving and protecting our special
skills. You musical talents fall in this category.
If we want to upload you, but cannot upload you music,
the experiment shall not be considered successful.
I agree with you: not all important things can be
communicated by words, nor by cortex - interface -
computer communication.
I have failed to mention yesterday that my vision of
the mind housing computer includes a camera and a
microphone. No computer program will manage to make
sense out upper cortex patterns alone, or out of words
alone. The system I envision must operate like a third
brain hemisphere: It must be in close contact with the
old two hemispheres, and it must receive information
just the way we receive it thru our eyes and ears via
a camera and a microphone.
Now when you play your music - the computer registers
the sounds and the corresponding brain patterns.
Later the system may replay the music in your head by
replying the registered brain patterns. Also when you
think about your music similar brain patterns may
exist - stimulating the system to actually replay your
music. The good part is that all music you play with
the system present will be in there for good, and you
will not have to relearn it.
Kind Regards,
Thomas
