I don't believe I've discussed that specific question with them yet. The 
closest we got was discussion the extraction of connectivity and function 
from the observation of activity in a large number of cells in a cortical 
slice. This is done by optically recording light emitted by the cells 
when they activate (the donor mice were bred to contain a mutation 
specifically for that purpose). It is an interesting way to find out how 
large numbers of cells interact, since it is one way to get detailed 
spiking information about thousands of cells at once.
